Contested Divorce Austin
Contesting a divorce can be a drawn out and unpleasant process. Under the watchful guidance of a Texas divorce attorney, you will be helped through the proceedings until an amicable solution is reached.
A contested divorce may refer to one of two scenarios:
1. One party does not believe there are grounds for divorce. The divorce itself is being contested. One person does not want a divorce from the other. This type of contested divorce requires you to seek legal council in the event that your spouse has filed a divorce petition -OR- in the event that your petition for divorce is contested. After the petition is filed, either party may request a court hearing to formalize, or dispute, the grounds for divorce.
2. One or both parties do not agree on the terms of the divorce. Both parties have agreed to the divorce proceedings, however, one or both parties are unaccepting of the divorce terms. This may include disputes over property ownership, child custody, alimony, joint-business ventures, and etcetera. This being the more common form of contested divorce.
